4.0 out of 5 stars Spins Great, Avoid the Base

This is a really fun fidget toy and would make a great gift. I find myself spinning it at my desk without even thinking about it. It's a real joy to use. I was getting six minute spins on my first day, so I can easily see it spinning for ten minutes with practice. The top is fairly well crafted. The machining is pretty good, although not perfect. There were a few odd machining marks on mine, but really pretty minor. I only bring it up since this is the type of thing you'd expect to be near flawless.I knocked a star off because of the glass base it comes with. I'd highly recommend against using it. Within the first few days, the bottom of my top had become scratched and chipped from occasionally clipping the side of the glass while spinning. The edge of the glass is too sharp and rough and damages the top. The top now makes a scratching noise as it spins down because the bottom has gotten a bit scratched up. Also, the glass base had begun to chip a bit on the edges. And this is all from pretty light use. I'd suggest either getting the upgraded wood and glass base made by this manufacturer as that would prevent the top from contacting the sides, or order a base from another manufacturer with polished sides or the silicone bumper that goes around the edges.

5.0 out of 5 stars Addictive and Awesome

These tops have exploded in popularity in recent years, with many cheap imitations floating around. I own several of these and this by far the nicest of the bunch. It is very well made, with highly accurate machining that creates an incredibly well-balanced top that spins for what seems like forever at times. The included glass plate is quite large (almost 4") which is much nicer than the smaller plates you find with most other tops. When you can time the drop right, this top will spin for well over 5-7 minutes. Once it balances itself out and settles into a spot on the glass, it becomes nearly impossible to tell that it is spinning. Rather, it appears to be floating perfectly upright on the glass. Exceptional craftsmanship and endless entertainment.

The widest diameter is about the size of a quarter. The balance is perfect, it spins for minutes. Silently spinning, it's hard to tell it's spinning. It's heavy for it's size, and easy to spin, it does require a little bit of skill because my teenagers struggled a little bit to get it going, but it works for me every time. It is elegant to display on a table or desk and durable for fidgety fingers to spin repeatedly as well as mesmerizing to watch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Long Spins

Everything with this set is quality. The concave glass works well to keep the top on it. The top is heavy and substantial and that helps with long spin times. The bearing in the tip moves freely and smooth which also contributes to its spinning. It is a little small but it makes it perfect for a desk top fidget. The knurling on the handle of the top makes getting a good grip easy.

I finally got a spinny top! A real one! Not one of those cheap ones. This one is sooooo cool! It takes me several tries to get the spin right and not fling it off the glass bass. When I finally get it right, it spins for a loooong time. I should time it but trust me, this thing goes and goes, and, it's silent. It doesn't make any noise. Once it gets spinning, it dances all over the glass and finally settles in the middle. The top had a good textured grip that makes it easy to spin but I'm still bad at snapping it. This would make a good gift for somebody that's hard to buy for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great looking fidget for your desk

This is a fabulous gift for someone who is stuck at a desk most of the day, whether at home or at an office. It’s a fidget for those with focus issues or anxiety, but it also an interesting and fun desk accessory. It’s packaged in an attractive black box, so it’s ready for gift giving. The spinning surface is a thick circle of glass. As is typical, the edge of the glass is bluish-green due to the iron content in the glass, but because the piece of glass is so thick, it’s quite noticeable and very pretty, with a frosted finish. The edges are smooth - there are no rough areas and no chips. The glass top is also completely smooth, and slightly concave on both sides so you can spin the top on either side. The seemingly simple metal top is far from simple because it is designed to spin for many minutes at a time – if you manage to give it a good start. So that is your challenge, and the long mesmerizing spin is the reward. Alternatively, spin it and require yourself to work for the duration of the spin. When it stops, take a short break. Whatever works for you and your focus issues, I think you will enjoy having this item on your desk.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and sophisticated top. A great gift for adults

This top comes with a thick slightly curved piece of glass. The top is beautiful! It is definitely not a toy, but would be perfect on an executive's desk. The curved surface is only on one side of the glass. There was some trial and error before I figured out there was a slight difference and the flatter side will not work as well. The top is heavy, with a ball bearing at the tip. It actually spins better with a limited amount of force. The faster I tried to spin it, the more likely it was to fail.My record spin is 2 minutes 37 seconds, so far. It is amazing because I could never get a top to work as a child. This is the perfect gift for the person who has everything! As reflected in the price, this is not a child's top. This will be the perfect gift for my father's birthday!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well made, consistent 6 minutes spin time

I'm a complete novice when it comes to precision spinning tops, this being my second top. My spin times right out of the box for this top range from 6 minutes to 8 minutes easy. With a little expertise and practice I'm sure one can crack 10 minutes mark. The supplied base is really smooth and came without any scratches (unlike some others) and is a valuable item for great spinning experience. You can of course spin your top on any smooth surface but this base makes it really easy and you won't lose your top either. The only thing that I wish this base had is a bumping edge to protect the sides of the glass. If you aren't careful it's very easy to damage the glass - it's just bare glass puck.As for the top itself, it weighs 34 grams and is slightly bigger than some other basic tops. The knurling on the stem is super grippy and makes spinning easy. The finishing is extremely shiny and can be easily marred. Within 10 minutes of receiving the top I managed to scratch it in 3 places. I wish the finishing was little better and less shiny. With that said, you can get 6-7 minutes of spin time easily. All in all, I will say this is a great value considering you get a really good quality base included in the box.
